The work

Experience a colourful immersion in the movement of natural light

Initiated by the Uhoda Group, in collaboration with the SNCB and with the support of public and private partners, Liège-Guillemins station will be the setting for a monumental and temporary piece of work by Daniel Buren.

Conceived in perfect harmony with the architecture of Santiago Calatrava, the work spreads over the entire ceiling of the building through a display of colour, contrast, projections and reflections. The spectacular creation will constantly change to reflect the light of day, the time of day and the seasons.

The artist

Daniel Buren, one of the most acclaimed French artists

Since the 1990’s, Daniel Buren has been making use of transparent coloured filters with which he draws on the glass surfaces of the buildings where he stages his work. These drawings adorn the architecture, making it a perfect medium that varies in accordance with the shift of the natural light, splashing the space and public with the colours cast in this way.

He is one of the most active and widely recognised artists on the International scene, and his work has been shown by the some of the most important institutions around the world.
